Libraries are critical to student learning. Thirty years of research proves a direct correlation between high student achievement and student access to School Libraries that are staffed by full-time certified School Librarians. (School Libraries Work, Scholastic 2016). During this unprecedented time, it is even more essential that the BHS Library provide these services in both physical and virtual Library environments. Additionally, the BHS Library recognizes its role in providing a safe, affirming space for meeting the social and emotional needs of all its learners.
The BHS LIbrary, along with all MCPS Libraries, is committed to:
Fostering a love of reading and learning;
Ensuring equity of access to diverse learning resources;
Creating responsible digital citizens though utilizing and modeling emerging technologies; and
Collaborating with all learners--students and teachers--to provide essential and innovative instruction.
